Hi,
I made to myself 110 cm double fire staff then I want both for isolation and this sort of staff but also for throws and basic contact.
now, when I play with fire, I find it relly threating to do isolation on the inside plain, since the fire is very close to my body and to my hand.
It is quite limiting the movement I can do... However, I prefer not to shorten the staves since it wont be as good for contact or throws.
What do you say? do you think that with more practice I can find a method to overcome this problem, or they just too long?
thanks,
Daniel

Re: is 110cm fire staff is too long for isolations?
Tue, May 12, 2009 - 9:30 AMI don't think so. It starts to get a little akward with longer staves but I sometimes spin my 5" contact staves as doubles and do isolations but I have to shift my grip away from the center of the staff and grip it closer to the end I'm trying to isolate.. It takes some getting used to though.. -

Thu, May 28, 2009 - 10:44 AMI isolate 6 foot staves in doubles sometimes. You have to either choke up, do it on a diagonal plane, or both. Its a bit hard on the wrists, and it doesn't look as magical as when the little baton twirlers do it, but don't say it CAN'T be done... -
